The foreword at the book is written by two well known people respectively in the field of physiotherapy and motivational interviewing: Professor Jeremy Lewis, Phd, and professor Stephen Rollnick.
Jeremy read my book completely, although he had a very busy agenda.
I’m grateful for the words he wrote; here are some quotes from his foreword.
Professor Dr. Jeremy Lewis
Jeremy Lewis is a Consultant Physiotherapist and Professor of Musculoskeletal Research (University of Hertfordshire, UK, University of Limerick, Ireland and Qatar University, Qatar). He was born in New Zealand and trained in Australia. He works in the UK National Health Service and has been awarded a Fellowship of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
“We are indebted to Vincent for the time and energy he has devoted to writing Communication Skills for Physiotherapists, and for the information and guidance he has woven into every page of his book.”
“On every page, Vincent has one clear focus: improving the way we listen to and converse with patients. He clearly recognises that the most important person in healthcare is the patient and that how we communicate at each stage of every meeting and interaction is crucial to developing a deep, broad, and meaningful therapeutic alliance. We are indebted to those who have translated this version into English.”
It is comprehensive and easy to read. There is valuable information on every page of this book, and everyone reading it will come away as a better communicator.
Jeremy Lewis
“Vincent correctly maintains that professional conversations may be difficult and need to be worked at to develop fully, as is necessary for every clinical skill. As such, this book will be invaluable for physiotherapists in training, those newly qualified, and those who have years (and years) of experience alike.”
“In summary, Communication Skills for Physiotherapists is filled with detailed information, clear examples, and fantastic tips to improve every physiotherapist’s skill when communicating with the most important person in healthcare, the patient. It is comprehensive and easy to read. There is valuable information on every page of this book, and everyone reading it will come away as a better communicator.”
